Whether you’re planning your first family vacation or your passport has more stamps than a post office, there is just something about traveling to a new place that is exciting and fun. Where you travel, how often you travel, and how you travel says a lot about the person you are. Take a look at these 8 types of travelers and see which one you can relate to the most:
The Photographer- You buy a camera, and then plan your vacation around the places where that camera will be able to take the best pictures. You plan your destinations partly by figuring out which place will look the coolest on your Facebook timeline, and spend more time talking selfies than reading your guidebook or map. To you, traveling is about capturing the experience so you can relive them later. You’re guilty of taking 294 pictures of the same sunset, the same mountain range, or the same skyscrapers, but you just can’t help it, it’s all so cool!
The Planner- Your brain will explode if you’re out of arms reach of your beloved planner. You make lists, and make lists about the lists you have to make. You feel secure where there is a set plan, a timeline, and an itinerary for your travel plans. You almost enjoy planning the trip more than actually going on it. (Fact: You probably drive some of the people in your party crazy, but they’re so thankful that you do the planning and they get to enjoy the incredible trip you worked so hard on)
The “Go-With-The-Flow”er – Arch nemesis of The Planner. You basically decide where you’re going when you get to the airport, train station or jump in your car. You make it up as you go along. You stay with people you barely know, hardly ever check reviews, and find peace and adventure in just going with the flow and figuring it out along the way.
The Spender- When you go, you go all out. Your mindset is “I’ll only be in this city once, might as well enjoy it!” You spend a lot of money because hey, why not?! It’s your vacation, and you want to live it up. You eat at the best places, buy all the souvenirs you want, and get home with $2 in your bank account and a big smile on your face.
The Budgeter- You, like The Planner, have set out an exact figure for how much you want to spend and look for deals and discounts and freebies any chance you get. You’ve already looked at the menu where you’re going to eat and have calculated the price for all of your meals, including the tip. You don’t stray from your budget and come home completely satisfied that you had a great time and didn’t spend a dime more than you planned for.
The Map Reader- You’re into maps and travel apps and review sites and guidebooks. You research the placees you are going thoroughly and depend highly on the recommendations of other people. You cling to your guidebook or map like it is your Bible, and barely stray from what it says. You find comfort in learning from the mistakes of others and can’t stand the thought of risking your precious vacation time on something you haven’t researched
The Copycat- You know the places you like, and you go back again and again and again. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right? You have your special city, the place you always stay, the restaurants you always eat in, and the activities you always do. It’s made you happy in the past, so why change it up? The familiarity of traveling to the same place makes you feel confident and in control, and you’re not a huge fan of change.
The “I- Hate-To-Wait”er- If you listed your best traits, patience wouldn’t be at the top. Actually, it wouldn’t even be on the list at all. You mumble under your breath and shift your weight back and forth while waiting in line at the airport. You check your watch all the time, sigh heavily when waiting for an elevator and walk 3 steps ahead of everyone in your party. You want to get to where you’re going, and you don’t know why everyone is holding
you up. You’re early for everything and get grumpy when everyone else is on time. Lucky for everyone in your group, you know the fastest ways to and from certain places, avoid traffic like the plague, and never EVER waste one second just waiting around.
The Lone Wolf- You like your space. You go to the movies by yourself, go shopping by yourself, so why wouldn’t you travel by yourself? You love the idea of not waiting on anyone, you like making your own decisions and doing things on your schedule. You find peace in figuring things out on your own and love your independence.
